Mission Statement
We believe entrepreneurship is a good tool for solving hard problems.
It is not the only tool, and it is not the right one for every problem. But when something is genuinely broken and nobody has been given room to try, the habits of entrepreneurship hold up well. Start small. Talk to the people affected. Build something. Find out where you were wrong. Build it again.
SENSA is where Stanford students get to practice those habits on problems that matter. We are the world’s first and oldest collegiate social entrepreneurship club, and mostly what that history gives us is permission: to be scrappy, to work with partners who are not used to being asked, and to let students lead work they are not yet obviously qualified for.
We are six teams instead of one on purpose. Running a speaker series, organizing a volunteering drive and taking on a consulting project are different kinds of work, and people who join for one often end up doing three. Not everyone here will start a company. That was never the goal. The goal is that everyone works out what their own contribution looks like.
